About VODS Fire
VODS Fire is a fire compliance platform for building owners, fire service companies and technicians in South Africa. Building owners see where their building stands on fire safety. Registered service providers in the network quote, visit and do the work.
For building owners
- A free pre-check with a guide score out of 10.
- A list of what to fix first and a PDF report.
- Plain recommendations for each item that needs attention.
- A request form to find a registered provider, with your report number filled in.
- Optional monthly compliance reports for R200 a month.
- Choose or invite your service provider.
For fire service companies
- Register your company and the provinces you cover.
- Register all of your technicians, or approve technicians who ask to join your company.
- See your technicians and the status of their SAQCC registrations.
- The company admin does not need a SAQCC number.
- Record each completed job. The building owner gets a job report PDF with your company name and logo.
For technicians
- Technicians are registered under their company. Join your company, and the company admin approves you.
- If your company is not registered yet, invite it.
- Add your SAQCC Fire number, levels and card, and the type of work you do.
How technicians' SAQCC registrations are checked
- Each technician gives their SAQCC Fire registration number, their levels and a copy of the card.
- The VODS Fire admin team checks the number by hand on the SAQCC Fire website. Until then the technician shows as Verification pending.
- SAQCC cards expire at the end of February and stay on the SAQCC website for a grace period. So every registration is checked again each year. On 1 March every verified technician shows as Renewal check due and gets an email. The recheck must be done by 31 July.
- Technicians who are still not rechecked get a reminder email on 1 June and on 1 July. Anyone not rechecked by 31 July shows as Unverified until the admin team checks them again.
- When a technician changes their SAQCC details, the status goes back to Verification pending until the new details are checked.
Who can see what
- A company dashboard shows only that company's own details, service regions and technicians. Only that company's admin can change its settings.
- A company admin can open report PDFs only for jobs done by technicians in their own company.
- A technician's SAQCC card can be opened only by that technician and the VODS Fire admin team.
- Photos and report PDFs from a pre-check open only for the person who sent it (from their account or the browser they used), the technician on that job and the VODS Fire admin team.
- Each results page has a long random link. Anyone you share that link with can see the score and the list of items, but not your photos or PDFs.
- A building owner sees the name of the company they chose. On each job report they also see the technician's name, SAQCC number and SAQCC levels.
- The VODS Fire admin team can see all records, to check technicians and companies and keep the platform running.
More detail is in the privacy notice.
Guidance only
The pre-check score is guidance. It is not a certificate of compliance and it is not an approval from the fire department or a fire engineer. Registered providers sign their own work.
