Terms of service

These terms cover the free pre-check and the monthly compliance reports on www.vodsfire.co.za. By using the site you agree to these terms. Last updated 30 October 2026.

1. The free pre-check

The pre-check is free. It gives a guide score out of 10, a list of items to look at and a PDF report, based only on the answers and photos you give. Nobody visits your site for the pre-check.

2. Guidance only

The score, the report and the recommendations are guidance. They are not a certificate of compliance, not a fire engineer's approval and not a fire department inspection. Rules differ between municipalities, and the result depends on the answers you give. The building owner stays responsible for meeting the law. For a firm answer, ask a registered fire service provider or your local fire department.

3. Monthly compliance reports (R200 a month)

• This is optional. The pre-check and the report on screen stay free.
• For R200 a month you get a monthly reminder to update the checklist for your building, an updated score and report each month, and your score history on your dashboard.
• Payments are not switched on yet. Nothing is charged until they are, and we will tell you before the first charge.
• You can cancel any time from your account. Cancelling stops the next month.

4. Technicians

Companies in the network run their own businesses, and their technicians work under them. They quote, do the work and sign their own certificates. We check SAQCC Fire registrations by hand, but the agreement for any site work is between you and the technician or company.

5. Your account

Give true details and keep your password private. Log out on shared devices. We may close an account that is used to send false information or to misuse the site.

6. Limits

As far as the law allows, VODS Fire is not liable for loss or damage that comes from relying on a guide score or report instead of a site inspection by a registered person. Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Consumer Protection Act.

7. Privacy

We handle your personal information under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). Read the privacy notice to see what we collect and how to ask for access, correction or deletion.
